Former Motown Records Artists who've fallen on hard times will now be able to get financial help from their ex-bosses.  Motown founder
Berry Gordy, Jr.  has established a special fund named for his late
sister and Motown executive, Gwendolyn Gordy-Fuqua, who passed away
in 1999.  The fund was launched with an initial grant of $750,000.
It will be administered through the DC-based  Rhythm & Blues
Foundation (which already aids struggling R&B artists). Applicants to
the Gwendolyn Gordy-Fuqua Fund must have performed as a Motown lead
or background vocalist, musician or songwriter between January 31,
1960, through December 31, 1979.  For more information or to make a
contribution to the fund contact:  Rhythm & Blues Foundation,

During the pre-Kwanzaa season The International Kwanzaa Exchange provides space about Kwanzaa celebrations being held around the cities and communities of the country. There is no charge to the online community for this service. It is our way of practicing Umoja on the web to build and maintain the Kwanzaa community. We hope you will continue to support us in our "Across the Nation" endeavor to place all Kwanzaa celebrations together on our site.
